Relive the summer of '96 when football came home, Baddiel and Skinner on the radio, Gazza sublime volley against Scotland and Southgate penalty miss to end Englands hopes.
It was football at its very best in the long hot summer of football hosted in the UK
We have managed to secure a small number of the 1996 UK issued £2 football coins, that was released to mark the historic moment in British sporting history as the UK hosted the European Championships for the first time.
Interestingly this is a pre-bi metalic £2 coin, that features the 'Raphael Maklouf' portrait of Queen Elisabeth. The coin edge inscription reads ‘THE TENTH EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP’.
Released by The Royal Mint in the run-up to the 1996 UEFA European Championships that took place in England
