2022 marks 50 years since the first official Pride UK event, a momentous occasion in the LGBTQ community which has inspired those involved to continue preaching the message of equality into society for various decades. However, an event that was significant in the emergence of an era of resistance and revolution, was none other than the police raid of the Stonewall Inn, a bar in New York City. Whilst raids were common, this event was different as it sparked an uprising of the LGBTQ community in fighting discrimination and a movement towards equality.
The rights of LGBTQ+ people in Britain have faced considerable scrutiny in the last century, however, the community has come a long way and continues to shape political rights and social movements in the present day.
The strength of the LGBTQ+ movement is represented in beautiful colour in this Stunning 8-Part Stamp Set, featuring vibrant designs which utilise colours featured on the original rainbow flag. The openly gay artist, Gilbert Baker, created the rainbow flag back in 1978.
A distinct feature of this set is the inclusion of a specially sponsored pride 50th postmark, with the stamps issue date also featured – 1st of July 2022. The postmark date represents 50 years to the day since the first pride march in the UK!
This is an official release from The Royal Mail and is one of the most stunning stamp sets we have ever released.
With only 500 sets having been produced, you will need to act fast to secure this incredible stamp set!
