One of the oldest symbols for peace is the dove. Also the olive branch stood for peace in ancient Greece and gained even more importance in the Roman Empire through the Pax Romana as a sign of ambassadors.
Through Christian representations of the dove carrying an olive branch in the context of baptism, the bird then finally became known worldwide as a symbol of peace.
