O Canada Polar Bear Coin

Home to inhabitants from over 250 ethnic origins, Canada is one of the most diversely populated countries in the world and boasts some of the most varied climates of any country on the planet. Drawing over 22 million external tourists per year, Canada is famous for its gorgeous scenery, and often uninhabited land making it one of the most distinct locations for tourists and inhabitants alike.

Known as the largest bear in the world, the Polar Bear is seen by many Canadian citizens as a majestic national symbol and poster animal. With over two-thirds of all Polar Bears residing in Canada, its importance to the country is undeniable, particularly as Canadians believe they should prioritise the protection of this beautiful animal.

In honour of this incredible furry friend, The Royal Canadian Mint has released a stunning six-part collection, with this Polar Bear coin the first in the series.

The reverse of this 1/2oz Pure Silver coin depicts a mother and her cub in quite beautiful detail.

The obverse of each coin features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II created by Susanna Blunt.

Also featured in this collection are designs centered on iconic themes including Maple Leaves, Canadian Parliament, Changing of the Guard, The Beaver, and The Great Outdoors respectively.
