The word Follis means bag and goes back to a sealed bag of coins. This had a fixed value and was intended to simplify everyday payment transactions.

For their own fame, the emperors of Rome had their portrait minted on the obverses of the coins. The reverse shows different motifs, such as gods, legions or scenes of victorious battles. The coin will be delivered including a certificate of authenticity.
