The Royal Coat of Arms Premium Coin Set

Acting as the Official Coat of Arms for the British Monarch, The Royal Arms are not just important as they feature prominently on the £1 Coin, but because of their long-winded importance in British History having evolved over nine centuries.
Initially introduced to symbolize the authority of King Henry VIII, the Church of England began to introduce the design in churches around England. Centuries later, the Royal Coat of Arms continues to hold great importance in the design of British Coins. 

Debuting in 2008, The Royal Mint introduced an innovative Coin Set featuring the six smallest denominations of the British Currency which include: one, two, five, ten, twenty, and fifty pence. Placed together, the Coins form the Shield of the Royal Coat of Arms. As such, the unique combination of these coins together is often referred to as the ‘shield’ or ‘puzzle’ set inspired by Matthew Dent, a Welsh designer who redesigned the UK’s definitive coins back in 2008.
