In 1922, the British Egyptologist Howard Carter achieved worldwide recognition by discovering the almost completely preserved tomb of King Tutankhamun (c. 1341-1323 BC) in the Valley of the Kings.
The most famous of the 5,398 finds is the death mask of the king himself, made of high carat gold and weighing over 10 kilograms. The mask is depicted on this 1 Pound bimetallic coin, which is stored in a modern eco-box and encapsulated safely from dust and damage.
