The Holy Year, also called Jubilee, is a special jubilee for the Roman Catholic Church in which the pope grants a plenary indulgence to confessors if they comply with specific conditions.
In 1300, Pope Boniface VIII declared for the first time such a year for pilgrims who came to Rome.
