The Tudor Beasts Yale of Beaufort 2023 £5 Brilliant Uncirculated Coin

The Queen’s Beasts are recognised as ten heraldic statues that represent the genealogy of Queen Elizabeth II. Mother of the famous Tudor monarch Henry VII, Lady Margaret Beaufort was an extremely powerful women and was an influential figure in the Wars of the Roses of the late fifteen century.

Known as the ‘mother of the Tudors’, Lady Beaufort utilised all her political influence to ensure that her son Henry VII inherit the English throne and carry on the dynasty of the family.

Recognised as the family animal of Henry VII’s powerful mother, the Yale of Beaufort is viewed as an impressive mythical beast representing the purity, wealth, and power of the Beauforts. Said to be as big as a rhinoceros, with the tail of an elephant and the appearance of a goat, the yale forms part of one of the heraldic statues on view at Hampton Court Palace.

The third release in the Queen’s Beasts series, this coin follows the hugely popular Seymour Panther and Lion of England and has been created in collaboration with expert designers at historic royal palaces.

Featured on the reverse of this £5 coin is a depiction of the mythical Yale, with the addition of a shield displaying the arms of Edward Seymour, the eldest brother of Jane Seymour.

A superb design by the collection’s artist, David Lawrence, this 2023 coin is a must-have for numismatic collectors and is available in a selection of specifications.

Depicted on the obverse of this edition is Jody Clark’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, illustrating its legal tender status.
